In society today we have all come to rely on our modern technology. We use it for every aspect of our lives from the moment we open our eyes in the morning till we close our eyes again at night. It is hard to imagine a world without our gadgets and technology making life simpler for us on a daily basis. From our alarms going off first thing in the morning, technology even helps get us up out of bed every day. If you stop and think about it technology dominates our every waking moment in our homes and in the workplace.
What we don’t consider as often is the health consequences of using so many electrical products and gadgets. With all this electrical technology EMF dangers come with it. EMF (Electromagnetic Fields) is pockets of energy that can be found around electrical devices and equipment. The flow of the electrical current creates magnetic fields which surround the appliances. These EMFs are everywhere around you, in your home, at work and even outdoors. In your home items such as your hairdryer, cordless phone, refrigerator, microwave ovens, televisions, cell phones, lighting and vacuum cleaners all give off high levels of EMFs. When you leave home to go to work you are surrounded by them also, computers, fax machines, printers, photocopiers and florescent lighting all give off strong EMFs. Even when you walk out your door in to what you think is fresh air you still have EMFs around you. Power lines and cell phone towers are just 2 of the objects outside that can give off EMFs.
You might be thinking how do EMFs affect us and why are they such a threat to our health. Our bodies contain their own electrical and biochemical responses (e.g. nervous system) and when exposed to EMFs it can cause a reaction and adverse side effects.
Some of the symptoms associated with EMF exposure are migraines, insomnia, anxiety, aches and pains, digestive disruptions, skin conditions, eye irritation, tingling sensations and some less common complaints are ear, nose and throat issues,
As well as the above health conditions children’s leukemic and breast cancer have also been linked to high exposure from EMFs.
We have come to be so reliant on our technology and gadgets that we fail to see the dangers that come from using them on a regular basis. If we weigh it all up though, without some of those modern technologies a lot of people would be dead. Those very machines that send out EMFs have saved countless lives in hospitals and ERs all over the globe. Maybe all those electrically charged devices aren’t healthy for us to be around and possibly we do focus on them too much in her daily routines but I for one think their good points far outweigh their bad ones. Yes, we are all at risk from EMFs and through time we may begin to notice more and more how much they effect us as technology accelerates and advances. We have to move with the times though and hopefully one day in the future they will have found a way to lessen the high levels of EMFs.
